While most people go into chiropractic for the love of chiropractic, for some, the income of the average chiropractor is the most significant draw for joining the profession. Trust us, we get it. The financial abundance found in our line of work is something we try to help other chiropractors achieve and more with our chiropractic coaching program. With financial abundance comes the time freedom that chiropractors deserve. On top of this often impressive salary, another feature of the job that some chiropractors get to enjoy is creating their own flexible schedule. Now, flexible schedules can be difficult for some chiropractors to obtain at the beginning of their careers because they don’t have the proper business systems in place. We’ll cover a way to combat that early struggle later on in the blog. With all of that said…what is the average annual salary of a chiropractor?
Different Fields, Different Chiropractic Salaries
Now, this is a more complicated question than you might think. Average chiropractor salaries can vary based on the kind of practice you either own or work out. Are you running an urban or rural practice? Did you perhaps even join the military as a federal civilian chiropractor? Or maybe you work in one of those multidisciplinary clinics? There are so many factors going into what the actual salary of a chiropractor is. So, to make things easy for you, we’ve compiled the different statistics for the annual wage of these different fields.
Average Chiropractic Salary
We’ll start out with the average chiropractor salary information that can be a blanket number for you to have in mind. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average chiropractic salary is $81,420, and the median chiropractic salary is $75,000 as of 2021. Those certainly are not numbers to scoff at. Not only that, but the job outlook has increased by 11%, which means that if there ever were a time to jump into our growing profession, now’s the time!
Rural vs. Urban Chiropractors
Now we go into private practices, which is what the majority of solo chiropractic practitioners own. While there may not be tons of data to support it, rural practices can either thrive exponentially…or fall flat. It all comes down to the demand for a chiropractic practice in your area and whether or not you know how to market yourself correctly. In our experience, however, we’ve seen more of a trend towards the former. Don’t believe us? According to Chiropractic Economics, the average salary of a rural chiropractor was $113,140 as of 2019! That’s over $30,000 more than the national average. This is opposed to the average salary of urban chiropractors, which was reported as being $77,600. Talk about a difference! Can you believe that the income of chiropractors can have such drastic differences?
Federal Civilian Chiropractors
Speaking of drastic, the average pay range for a federal civilian chiropractor that works for the Department of Defense can be anywhere from $68,809 to $99,590! This doesn’t even include the added benefits of access to a health insurance plan and a 401k plan provided by the military. However, as we’re sure you can tell, the lower end of this military pay range is quite a bit lower than the national average salary for a federal civilian chiropractor. It’s up to our fellow chiropractors out there to weigh the balance of the promise of a stable, but lower, paycheck versus having their own practice and relying on having the proper business systems in place to create financial abundance for themselves.
Multidisciplinary Clinic Chiropractors
Finally, we have the stats for chiropractors who are working in multidisciplinary clinics. If for any reason you don’t know what exactly a multidisciplinary clinic is, it’s essentially your typical medical clinic, but they offer the services of what are considered “alternative medicine practitioners” or complementary practitioners. The services that fall under that umbrella include acupuncture, massage therapy, and chiropractic adjustments. The National University of Health Sciences found that chiropractors that worked in these multidisciplinary clinics can make up to $134,000 in their annual salary. This is certainly on the higher end of wages that we’ve mentioned so far, but it also comes at the cost of not being able to have full control over your practices, as you would in your own clinic. As we said before, this is something that you have to weigh when considering what exactly you’re wanting to do in the chiropractic field. Is the promise of a potentially higher salary than you would initially make in your own practice worth it? That’s up to you, and only you, to decide.
The Importance of Business Systems in Creating Abundance
Now, we can talk about the variety of salaries in the chiropractic profession endlessly and it’s honestly quite a fun topic to talk about. However, creating a long-lasting chiropractic career where you’re able to enjoy the fruits of your labor through aspects such as time freedom, there’s a necessary element your workplace needs. Can you guess what it is? Here’s a hint, we’ve mentioned it several times throughout this blog! And the answer is…
BUSINESS SYSTEMS!
The Visionaries of Schubel Vision Elite came to the realization years ago that, without implementing the proper business systems in your clinic(s), there’s no chance of having a financially abundant career without sacrificing the hard-earned time freedom you deserve. Running a chiropractic clinic without having business systems in place is like building a tower with no foundation. Without the foundation, your tower’s bound to fall at any time; you just won’t know until it’s already too late to stop it.
So, we say treat the issue before it even has the chance to arise. You need to have those first-day procedures down to a T. You need to know how to create effective referral generation. There are so many of these systems you need to have in place, preferably before you even open your doors. But just know it’s never too late to implement business systems! No matter how lost you might be feeling in your practice, we guarantee that, with a chiropractic coaching program like ours, you’ll be up and at them again. It’ll take time, effort, and true investment on your part. Once you commit though, you’re golden.
If you want to be able to take control of your clinic, either early on or well into your career, become a member of Schubel Vision Elite.
